One of the most common pieces of feedback I get from other parent/carers of autistic (autism), PDA (Pathological Demand Avoidance) and other neurodiversities, is that they feel isolated, unsupported, and alone. The challenges of our cared for can leave friends and family retreating and the extra care required means qualified babysitting is difficult to acquire...meaning we feel further separated and alone. I've been through this myself but have found, with time, amazing support and friendships with others in the SEND community. In this episode I reflect on the impact of these isolated feelings and how I stumbled into the SEND support community, changing my life.
